Christie Petsinis

[two_third] Christie Petsinis is an architect and urbanist. Following a scholarship in Finland at the
Helsinki University of Technology, she studied at Deakin University and the Victorian College
of the Arts, graduating from a Bachelor of Architecture and Construction Management with
Honours. Christie has also completed a project-based Masters in Architecture and Urban
Culture at the Centre of Contemporary Culture in Barcelona.
Christie began working with leading international design practice Denton Corker Marshall
in Melbourne as a Student Architect in 2002. In 2006, Christie resumed working for the
practice, where she was appointed as a Senior Architect. During this time she led and
contributed to significant commercial, civic and urban design projects including the $1.3Bn
Monash-CityLink-Westgate upgrade, the Te Wero Bridge, Auckland, New Zealand and the
award winning submission for the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.
Over the past 15 years, Christie has actively instigated creative projects that have employed
built forms, large-scale installations and events to develop social participation and
environmental awareness to a broad audience. She has initiated and produced engaging
projects that explore art, architecture, urban living and sustainability – captivating
academics, architectural and art associations and media. Partnering with teams of expert
consultants, government departments and various stakeholder groups to deliver civic
projects in both sensitive and challenging environments.
Christie, has taught at the University or Melbourne and continues to teach Earhscapes studio
at Deakin University. Christie also participates as a Jury Member in the AIA awards in having
judged sustainability, commercial and is currently appointed as Chair of the residential
category.
The City of Melbourne commissioned Christie to create a book that features a resident
anthropology and design history of the Nicholas Building in Melbourne that locates the
importance of the building to the creative life of Melbourne.
